I have had a few different occupations: At the Auto Club, I was the
secretary to the manager and then the claims secretary. After three years, I quit and soon started working in a dental office
where the dentist, a computer salesman, and a programmer developed a program for dental offices. From that I got into programming,
which I loved even though it was very stressful. I quit that in 1989, and soon got a job in a dental office again, doing computer
work.
In 1989 I started a new hobby--making porcelain dolls. I took lessons
from a local lady and made over thirty dolls--from painting their faces to making their dresses. I also made a few teddy bears
and even went to a Teddy Bear Convention.
In 1995, Bruce and I accompanied the Hemet High Jazz Band to Europe
for two weeks. They played concerts in various locations in England for a week, and we were able to visit with Amy one
afternoon. We went on to Paris and then Switzerland, where the band played at the Montreux Jazz Festival. It was quite a trip.
Since the summer of 1997, I have been a Creative Memories Consultant,
teaching and helping people make memorable photo albums. My sister, Judy, and her daughter-in-law were my first customers,
and we all love putting our pictures and stories in albums. I have a workshop at Judy's house once a month.
Bruce and I have discovered the fun of cruising, and have been on five
cruises--to the Caribbean (twice), Alaska, Ensenada-Catalina-San
Diego, and our favorite, Tahiti. It is so beautiful there and you really are in the middle of the vast ocean. It took eight
hours to fly there from Los Angeles.
Most of all, we love visiting with our children and grandchildren. They all live in Utah, so we go there a few times a
year. Since Bruce is a teacher and has two weeks off at Christmas, we've been going there for Christmas for the last several
years, which makes us realize how much we like California's winter weather.
One of the most exciting things Bruce and I have ever done is participate in our church's dance festivals, in 1976, 1980,
and 1985, all held in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Donna and David also danced in the last one, which featured 13,000
dancers. Leslie even came and danced with Bruce, while I danced with the husband of a woman who couldn't make it. Donna
and David danced the Charleston and Lindy. There were so many dancers that the ones over 18 years of age couldn't fit
on the field for the opening and closing numbers. The Rose Bowl was filled to its 104,000-person capacity for this one
and only performance. It was an amazing experience that is hard to describe, so I've added a few pictures.
