Leslie, Matt, Holly, Ron, and Ryan after Ryan and Holly were married.
 
Our family consists of Leslie, Ron, Matt, Ryan, and our two dogs, Mollie and Sadie.
 
We have lived in various parts of the country--Los Angeles, Charlotte, North Carolina; College Park, Maryland; Victoria, Texas and even Mexico City before settling in Macomb, Illinois in 1986.  By that time Matt was 10 and Ryan 7.  We came here because of Ron's job--Chairman of the Department of English and Journalism at Western Illinois University.  Leslie worked as manager of a small independent bookstore for 14 years before retiring on Christmas Eve,  2002.  Now Ron is retiring in May, 2005.

Ryan is living in Long Beach and working in Hollywood for LegalZoom.com, an on-line legal service for which he is a trademark and patent specialist.  His main interest outside work is music.  He is an excellent drummer, and has just joined an established band in Long Beach.  Both boys like to read good literature and share their impressions with their Dad, which pleases Ron no end.

Matt is currently finishing up his fourth year of Grad School at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  He is working toward a Ph.D. in AstroPhysics.  He studies far-off stars and galaxies and gets to go to conferences where astronomers share information on their research:  this year Switzerland, Cancun, and Cambridge England.  He has a very special girlfriend, Cynthia Biro, whom he met when she was his student in an Astronomy class.  Matt's other interests are sports (Chicago Cubs), music (playing wonderful blues guitar), and reading.

Since retiring, Leslie has been a volunteer for the local hospice organization--working in the office and visiting patients.  She also helps out at The Elms nursing home where her Mom has been a resident since May 2002.  Her main interests are reading, doing counted cross stitch, and playing canasta weekly with friends.

After Ron retires he plans to do a lot of reading for pleasure and continue his interest in various authors in hopes of writing articles and maybe even a book of criticism.  His major hobby is being  manager of his fantasy league baseball team.

We all enjoy traveling, and a bright memory for all of us was a cruise of the Mexican Riviera in January, 2003.  In 2002, Ron and Leslie went to Victoria, B.C. and were touring the Butchart Gardens when they came upon Linda and Bruce, who were taking a tour prior to a cruise to Alaska.  What a shock and surprise that we would happen to be there at the same time and walk on the same path.  I guess it's a twin thing.

We enjoy the Midwest.  Our little town has about 20,000 people, including students at the University. It is a rural setting, so we're surrounded by farms and corn fields.  There is no traffic to speak of, and seldom do we wait in line for anything.  It's a very easy and comfortable place to live, and we plan to stay here through retirement.
