Edith Furman Judson

September 20, 1887 - December 22, 1963

The above picture is from a tintype.  A card attached to the back of the tintype identifies the people as William Furman (probably the grandfather of the children and the father of John T. Furman), children Frank, Jack and Edith, and mother Sarah Hicks Furman.

Correction:  I have been corresponding with Robert Furman, Great-grandson of John Thomas Furman and sent the above picture to him; he suggests (and I have to agree) that the man identified as William Furman is really John Thomas Furman, as William died in 1881, and Edith Furman was born in 1887.  John Thomas was 17 years older than his wife, Sarah Hicks Furman.  -- Linda

Sarah L. Hicks Safford Furman was born March 9, 1858, to William and Sarah Hicks (both born in New York), and died May 20, 1936, in Denver.  (from death certificate)

John T. Furman was born in 1840 to William and Lydia Furman in Newtown, Long Island, and died February 9, 1899, in Annadale, New York.  He was a contractor.  (from death certificate)

This picture is believed to be of Edith Furman,
taken at the Reynolds studio in Brooklyn.

Edith was the fifth child born to John T. Furman and Sarah L. Hicks Furman.

In order, her siblings were:  Nelson, Frank, Gary, Lily, Jack, and Ethel.   There were two children who died--a boy at age 4, and an infant girl.
